Frequently Asked ?’s200x200

What is affiliate marketing?

Affiliate Marketing is a method of selling products or services by marketing them within the content of publisher Web sites. Publishers (affiliates) earn a commission from their advertisers (merchants) for every sale or new subscriber delivered through their efforts. This method is called performance-based marketing or pay-per-action marketing (PPA). It is a modern variation of the practice of paying finder’s fees to individuals who introduce new clients to a business. Compensation can be based on generating sales, completing forms, or signing up new customers.

Who’s eligible to become a publisher?

Anyone with a Web site, blog, or Internet presence can join LinkShare. You will also need to provide a valid mailing address (to receive payments) and tax information.

Does it cost anything to apply?

No, it is completely free to become a LinkShare publisher and there is no cost in joining any LinkShare advertiser program or offer.

How do I generate revenue?

As a publisher, you will have access to links and banners that you can place on your Web site, blog, or in Emails. These links will drive traffic to advertisers’ Web sites. Advertisers will pay a commission for each purchase or qualifying action you generate for them. LinkShare acts as the trusted third-party that brings together both advertisers and publishers.

How much revenue can I earn?

The best way to find out how much you’ll earn is to sign up, start joining advertisers’ programs or offers, and testing the various link formats on your site. As a publisher, you’ll be able to see your commission earnings by clicking on the Reports tab in the Publisher Dashboard.

LinkShare provides in-depth reports enabling you to view the number of impressions, clicks, orders, sales, and commission you generate for each advertiser.

The links you display on your pages generate commissions based on each advertiser’s terms. Most advertisers pay a percentage of the sales you generate. Review the terms of each advertiser you join for details.

You can visit the Publisher tab at linkshare.com for more information about LinkShare’s services for Publishers.

Affiliate Network Quick Start Guide200x200

1. Build Your Site

One of the most important aspects of a Web site is the content and design of your site. Here are some helpful online resources for building your site: www.w3schools.com, www.webmonkey.com, and www.htmlcodetutorial.com.

2. Determine Your Affiliate Business Model

Before you start your performance-marketing program, you should consider the content of your site and your site’s visitors. There are many different affiliate business models, click here for a list.

3. Find Advertisers

After completing signup, you will be logged into your account. The first step is to join advertiser programs. When looking to join advertiser programs consider your audience, the content on your site, and the types of advertisers that you want to work with. Some Good News from NewspaperARCHIVE

nacom_logo

In these troubling economic times, we could all use some good news. Conversion rates across the industry and most Web-based channels have plummeted.

However, it appears we are at a point where there is a light at the end of the tunnel. So far this month, our top affiliates are on pace to achieve record sales, so I am optimistic we have weathered the storm.

Now - the good news.

I have convinced the “front office” to extend our cookie length to 90 days.

This should increase your sales dramatically. I’ve noticed over the past six months that people are delaying their buying decisions, undoubtedly due to economic concerns. By increasing the LinkShare tracking cookie length to 90 days, you will earn commissions on referrals even if it takes 3 months for them to buy.

Our new baseline plan includes the following;

* 90 day tracking cookie
* 25% commission on monthly sales up to $500
* 50% commission on monthly sales over $500

Let me give you an example…

A visitor from your site comes to NewspaperARCHIVE and buys an annual subscription at $119.88 two weeks after their first visit.

* On the previous plan, you would have earned $0
* On the new plan, you earn $29.97, if your monthly sales are $500 or less, or you earn $50.94 if your monthly sales are more than $500.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions.

In addition, please let me know if you require any assistance with setting up new links, banners, or our new search boxes.
